A former strong ally of Alan Kyerematen, Kofi Dzamesi has declared his support to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearership contest.
At a meeting of NPP party stalwarts in the Volta Region on Friday, the former Volta Regional Minister now Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Bui Power Authority, minced no words in stating his conviction that Vice President Bawumia is the best among those seeking to lead the party in next year’s elections.
“Dr. Bawumia is the only one who can break the 8 for NPP. I support him,” Kofi Dzamesi said.
He went on to speak highly of Dr. Bawumia and made further compelling arguments to indicate his backing and also woo support for the Vice President.
Kofi Dzamesi’s open endorsement of Dr. Bawumia, adds to a growing list of high-profile former Alan allies, who have switched to the Bawumia train.
Another former Alan strongman, Frederick Opare Ansah, who played starring roles in Alan’s previous flagbearership campaign, stunned many recently on live radio when he announced his support for the candidature of Vice President Bawumia.
Several other key personnel, who worked for Alan at the national, regional, constituency and electoral areas, have quit the Alan camp and have thrown their weight behind Dr. Bawumia, who is the bookmaker’s overwhelming favourite to be the next leader of the NPP.
The Vice President enjoys enormous support both at the top and the grassroots of the party.
The NPP officially opens nominations for its flagbearership contest on May 26
