Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has commended managers of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College(GAFCSC) for making the college a centre of excellence for the professional development of not just the Ghanaian army but armies of other nations.
He was full of praise for them for their contributions to the development of technology in Ghana.
He praised the college in a speech at the graduation ceremony of the College held in Accra on Friday, August 18, 2023.
“I have repeatedly referred to GAFCSC, as a prime national asset with a place of pride in Ghana and the entire continent as it continues to serve as a citadel of knowledge for our military and that of allied countries…Over time, GAFCSC has convincingly carved a niche for itself as the destination of choice for Allied officers and countries who have the desire to achieve professional excellence in their respective Armed Forces,” he said.
He urged the college to endeavour to add some innovations to the digitalisation agenda of government by coming up with helpful strategies that will propel the quest to completely digitise and digitalise the economy.
“It has been acknowledged, the world over, that the military and technology are inseparable…Indeed, many technologies that we are enjoying today are the product of military research…Therefore I look forward to the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly GAFCSC, to help with strategies that will contribute to the government’s digitization agenda,” he appealed.
The college has the sole responsibility of training officers of the army for command and staff duties within the Ghana Armed Forces.
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) was established in 1963 with the mandate to train officers of the Ghana Armed Forces and allied officers of Africa in command and staff responsibilities. Over the years, it has received and trained personnel from sister African nations and has concentrated on core military/defence programmes, leading to the award of the Pass Staff College (PSC) certificate, according to its official website.
