Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Benard Antwi Boasiako has known widely Wontumi likened the NPP’s defeat to Manchester City’s run-up to winning a treble in the just-ended football season.
He says just like Manchester City lost some games in the leadup to the final days of the season, the NPP will also lose some.
Therefore claims that the wrath of the people of Ghana will be visited on the NPP during the 2024 elections is flawed.
Chairman Wontumi as he is affectionately called believes that Manchester City’s story in the just-ended football season will be the story of the NPP in 2024.
“Manchester City won the UEFA, Premier League and FA Cub. I want to know if they were not beaten by any team. When they lose, they go into their closets, restrategize and come back stronger and that has been the hallmark of the NPP.
To him, losing Assin South does not affect the fact that the NPP continues to be in power and will go on to win the ultimate which is the 2024 elections.
“John Mahama should just keep quiet. Does winning the Assin North election mean he is now the President? Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo continues to be the President. We are like Manchester City; a club that won treble. They lost some of their games but in the end, they won what’s most important, the trophies,” he said on Movement TV.
