The Council of Ghanaian Associations, Dallas Fort-Worth (COGA-DFW), has condemned an attempt to draw their organization into Ghana’s dirty politics.
There is a video in circulation suggesting that the Vice President of Ghana’s fund-raising dinner in the United States of America was a failure.
In the video and its accompanying commentary, a picture is painted of the people (Ghanaians in America) rejecting the Vice President.
However, a statement from the Council of Ghanaian Associations, Dallas Fort-Worth (COGA-DFW) has denied the claims.
“Let’s be unequivocally clear: The event in question, organized by the revered Council of Ghanaian Associations, Dallas Fort-Worth (COGA-DFW), was the GhanaFest 2023—a tribute to the vibrant tapestry of Ghanaian culture, traditions, and heritage. There was no political fundraiser tied to this dignified occasion. Importantly, it should be noted that the Second Lady, Her Excellency Hajia Mrs. Samira Bawumia, was not present at the precursor dinner event, making the propaganda even more baseless and misleading,” the statement said.
They used the opportunity to call on people involved in the propaganda to pull down the video and apologize to the Vice President.
We insist, with unwavering resolve, that those responsible for this distasteful propaganda immediately pull down the video and proffer a heartfelt apology to the Vice President, COGA-DFW, and, most importantly, to the Ghanaian populace both home and abroad, who have been misled by this disgraceful act.
