Hajia Ramatu Mahama, the spouse of late Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, has died at age 70.
Information reaching THE CUSTODIAN indicates the late Hajia Ramatu died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra Thursday afternoon (April 7, 2022) where she was receiving medical treatment.
Sources closer to the former second family of the Republic have revealed to THE CUSTODIAN that the mortal remains of the late Hajia Ramatu will be airlifted to Tamale for burial on Friday in line with Islamic tradition.
The former Second Lady is the mother of the Member of Parliament for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama and three others.
She is the daughter of the late Imoro Egala, one time Ghana’s Minister for Trade and Industry and the first black Chairman of Ghana Cocoa Board under the first Republic.
Hajia Ramatu Mahama was an educationist in Tamale and her love and care for pupils earned her the nickname, “Mma Ramatu”.
