Yidana Zakaria, the North East regional minister, is appealing to businesspeople, especially foreign investors to invest in his region because it is blessed with numerous natural resources.
He said the people of the north are hospitable.
Zakaria said those who invest in the region will receive high returns on their investments.
“My appeal to everybody is that the process of development is not going to come easy, it will take the collective effort of the people to make this happen,” the minister said in an interview with Asaase 99.5 Accra. “Thankfully, we have critical resources that are needed for development.”
“The number one is the people. We are very welcoming and we are ready to offer our service to any investor who wants to come and invest in the North East Region,” Zakaria said.
He said the region has a lot to offer in the agricultural sector.
“We have abundant natural resources, starting with the fertile land that we have. The valleys are good for the growing of rice and sugarcane, then the land itself is fertile for the cultivation of diverse agricultural products and if you need land, all you need to do is to come and go through the necessary traditional protocol and that will be provided,” he added.
Zakaria reiterated that the region has deposits of iron ore, deposits of uranium, gold, and limestone which cover about 96 kilometres in the East Mamprusi Municipality.
