Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that unlike the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) Government which he accused of paying lip service to the construction of the Eastern Corridor Road, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is committing to constructing the road as evidenced in the substantial work it has so far done.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the Tatale-Yendi-Tamale portion of the Eastern Corridor Road, Dr Bawumia asserted that the construction of the road is part of the Government’s drive to ensure inclusive development in Northern Ghana.
“In the last five years, as opposed to the lip-service by the previous NDC administration on the Eastern Corridor roads, the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commenced, and in some cases completed a substantial amount of work on the Eastern Corridor roads,” Dr Bawumia remarked.
The 167.98km road with other components is being funded by a $150 million loan from the World Bank and will be constructed in two lots.
