Veteran journalist, Abdul Kweku Baako, has charged the government to go after former functionaries who played various roles in the undeserving payment of ₵51.2m to a businessman as judgment debt.
The Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, called a lack of action of these actors, the “missing link.”
He mentioned former Deputy Attorney-General in 2009 Ebo Barton-Oduro, who insisted at the time, Alfred Agbesi Woyome had a contract wrongfully terminated and was deserving of the payment.
It is a position also held by his former boss, Betty Mould Iddrisu. The deputy Chief of Staff in the Mill-led NDC government also backed the payments as rightful.
But a court in 2014, ruled Woyome was to refund all the monies as the payments were wrong because he had no contract with government when he claimed it was abrogated.
