Member of Parliament for Tolon Constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, has questioned the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Northern Development Authority (NDA), Dr. Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya, for his decision to contest him in the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries of the Tolon Constituency.
“I don’t know what a new person will come and do for the people of Tolon. What development will he bring to the people, that the MP is not doing it already?”.
“He has served the people of Ghana in his capacity as CEO of NDA, what did he want to do, that I am not doing in the constituency?”, he quizzed.
The Tolon legislature who is also a Deputy Majority Chief Whip of Parliament, thrown these jabs during a recent interview on Diamond FM Power Drive with Mohammed Ibn Abdallah.
Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, while interacting with ‘Governor of the Airwaves’ also indicated that, his outfit within one year in parliament had been able to offer job opportunities to over 100 people within the Tolon constituency.
“When I made a decision to contest Hon Wahab Suhiyini Wumbei for the seat, I made it clear that, I am contesting because the constituency need development; the youth need employment and other things, and as an MP I have been able to do all these things. I can tell you, that within the one year I have been an MP, in my constituency, I have been able to provide for over 100 people with jobs. And, they are currently working as I speak, not NABCo job, but permanent job”, he stressed.
The Deputy Majority Chief Whip also claimed that, his outfit has initiated series of developmental projects which include construction of ultramodern Community Centre, construction of school blocks and water projects among others within the constituency.
“It is too early, and I don’t think Dr Anamzoya is expressing any interest to contest me. I don’t think so. May be people are parading that rumor”, he said.
“I was elected for four years, and I have just spent one year. The next election is not in my mind at the moment, in terms of contesting parliamentary primaries or representing the people. What is in my mind now is that they have given me four years mandate, and what I can do for my people within the four years term. I am only thinking of how to develop the constituency, but not the next elections”, he added.
Meanwhile, the former NDA boss Dr Sulemana Anamzoya, though is yet to make his intention to contest the seat publicly however, his supporters are on social media and other platforms announcing his plans towards contesting the next NPP parliamentary primaries of the Tolon Constituency.
