The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Mawumia, participated in the second edition of the tree planting initiative which occurred on the 10th of June, 2022.
Many joined the call to help restore lost vegetative cover through planting trees, an initiative launched last year, seeing to the planting of five million (5M) trees across the country. In an address by the president to launch the second edition at Efua Sutherland Park, he touched on the statistics of the survival rate of the trees that were planted last year.
The president stated that 85% of the total trees that were planted last year “are doing well”. This year’s edition saw many demonstrating their sense of patriotism as they were seen planting seedlings in their localities, notable among them was the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who was spotted planting seedlings around the Tamale Airport.
