A group of black students who were left behind during an emergency evacuation from Ukraine to Romania has lamented about the unfair treatment.
One of the black students explained during an interview that, the white Ukrainian women preferred to have their dogs and cats board the trains rather than black people.
The traumatized young man revealed how he was forced to stand up for the pets of these white people to sit.
” There is a lot of hostility against black men and women here in Ukraine. The white women don’t want us on board on the evacuation train so they told us that we are not Ukrainians and that we shouldn’t be allowed aboard. I understand that during an evacuation, women and children are always a priority before the men. But you can’t choose animals over black people…that is very unfair”. He lamented.
Racism is one of the challenging things the world is trying to eradicate. Blacks all over the world are often discriminated against because they are often classified as “monkeys”, thieves, drug addicts among other inhumane things. Several human rights organizations have tried their best to fight against this discrimination but it seems their efforts have yielded no results.
Will the world one day see everyone as an equal regardless of their skin color? I guess time will tell.
