The information minister Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah has stated that, as citizens, we all have a responsibility to contribute to national development. He made this statement during the townhall meeting session on e-levy, held in the Upper West Region.
The e-levy tax continues to hold as topical issue across the nation, most especially, as a major subject of discourse in parliamentary proceedings. A greater concern for the e-levy stems from the public’s preoccupation with its justification.
During the introductory speech delivered by the information minister, he sited some of the national needs necessitating the introduction of the e-levy tax. He said that “all the plans government has concerning the economic growth of the nation requires funding. Without money, government cannot build the nation. This reason, a tax measure like the e-levy is meant to help government finance all the developmental projects it has envisaged for the country. Again, we need funding to be able to create job opportunities for the youth. We all need to help government fund these growth-driven activities.”
The townhall meeting is expected to be held across the regions.
