Malachi Barton Movies and TV Shows to Watch in 2026

Anne Bruce6 min read

If you have heard of Malachi Barton, it’s likely from Disney Channel. He’s been simmering under the surface of family-appropriate films and series for almost a decade now, gradually growing from minor guest spots to leading roles in some of Disney’s larger properties. Here’s a list of his work, what you want to watch first, and where you can actually get it.

Quick Facts

DetailInfo
Full NameMalachi Daniel Barton
BornMarch 10, 2007, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Age (2026)19
ParentsFelicia Barton (singer, former American Idol contestant) and Loren Barton (guitarist)
Breakout RoleBeast Diaz in Stuck in the Middle
Most Recent FilmZombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires (2025)
Also VoicedLeo in Elena of Avalor

How He Got Started

Barton’s family relocated from Virginia Beach to Los Angeles to allow him to pursue acting, and his first TV work credit was in 2014 with a bit on the Comedy Central series Workaholics. A couple of guest roles came a few dishes later (Instant Mom and See Dad Run), the kind of small early work most young actors logs before they catch something bigger.

And that is when the big break came in 2016.

The TV Roles That Built His Career

Stuck in the Middle (2016 to 2018)

This is the show people most think of when they think of him. Barton played the chaotic youngest sibling, Beast Diaz, in the Jenna Ortega-led Disney Channel sitcom. The character could steal a scene with eccentric one-liners, and with the show’s three-season run, Barton became a regular face among Disney’s younger viewers. Now it’s on Disney+.”

Elena of Avalor and Fancy Nancy (Voice Roles)

Barton also did a number of years of voice work for Disney Junior, among other things, in addition to his live action work. He also was the voice of Leo on Elena of Avalor, a fantasy series about a teenage princess finding her way to rule her kingdom, and he is the voice of Lionel in Fancy Nancy, based on the popular children’s book series. Voice acting is a total different skill (you’re telling a character who they are with pace and tone alone, nothing physical to act with) and these long term jobs kept him solidly employed right up through his early teens.

The Villains of Valley View (2022 to 2023)

this is probably what actually showed range. Barton starred as Colby, with his superpower alter ego, Flashform, in a series about a family of supervillains masquerading as suburban normals. It was a departure from the goofier, younger-sibling energy of Stuck in the Middle; Flashform required more attitude and more physical comedy – a shift that Barton navigated admirably. The series was cancelled after two seasons.

Other Notable TV Credits

He also guest starred on Henry Danger (nickelodeon), did a stint of voice work on The Ghost and Molly McGee, and appeared in Disney+’s The Santa Clauses with Tim Allen. All of those brought a new dimension to his resume, and none ever took him too far from the Disney universe.

His Movie Roles

Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019)

Barton’s first true film credit came as a teenage Diego in the live-action Dora the Explorer adaptation starring Isabela Merced. It was not a major part, but it gave him exposure to a far larger audience than television alone had.

Under Wraps and Under Wraps 2 (2021, 2022)

The Wizard of Id (1992) was a Disney Channel remake of its 1997 Halloween film, starring Barton as Marshall, a young boy who loves monsters and befriends a mummy. The film was one of the network’s highest-rated Halloween originals in years leading directly to a sequel a year later with Barton returning to his role.

Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires (2025)

It’s his biggest film role to date and a big stretch for him as an actor. In the fourth installment of Disney’s musical Zombies series, he starred as Victor, a vampire, marking the first time he sang and danced on screen in his career. It was a shift in genre from any of his previous works, and resonated with the franchise’s fanbase.

Where to Actually Watch His Work

It is a no brainer with Disney+ offering the best value for a lot more content. Stuck in the Middle, Under Wraps movies, Zombies 4, The Villains of Valley View, as well as both his animated voice roles can all be found there for one subscription fee. His prior guest roles on Workaholics and Henry Danger are now on Paramount+, and so too is Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which mainly can be found to rent or buy on all the usual VOD suspects.

What’s Coming Next

Barton has a busy few years ahead of him. He will also play Fletch in Camp Rock 3, Jake in the new Disney series Coven Academy, and he will be reprising his role as Victor in Zombies 5: Secrets of the Sea, currently slated for 2027. Together, these titles hint that Disney is continuing to capitalize on the Zombies 4 energy rather than treating it as a one-off.

Which Roles Are Actually Worth Watching First

If you don’t know his body of work and the idea of having to watch everything doesn’t excite you for the best bits, start with The Villains of Valley View for his most dynamic turn, then move on to the original Under Wraps for a fun, no-pressure family movie, and finish off with Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires to see him for the first time in a musical role. That trio runs the gamut of what he does so well, comedy, warmth, and a little bit of versatility when it comes to performance.
